Hong Kong’s landmark New Year’s Eve fireworks display will not be going ahead this year, as announced by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), instead replaced by a countdown event in Central.
According to a press release shared yesterday (Dec. 17) by Discover Hong Kong, the New Year’s Eve countdown event will be held at the Chater Road pedestrian zone.
“Through this event, the HKTB hopes to convey positive energy, care, and blessings of peace to both locals and visitors and to welcome a hopeful new year together,” reads the press release.
More information is expected to be shared soon regarding the specific details of the countdown event.
