Specialising in the heady Middle Eastern flavours of Tel Aviv, the union of chef Asher Goldstein, restaurateur James Ward, and sommelier Simone Sammuri successfully brought FRANCIS to Wan Chai in 2018.
A second FRANCIS location, FRANCIS west, debuted in Soho in 2023, this time transporting guests to North Africa.
Now, the dynamic trio have zeroed in on the flavours of the sunny southern Mediterranean region, particularly Greece and Italy, with the launch of their newest restaurant, Carmela, at Nan Fung Place in Central.
The modern Med hotspot’s warm intimacy is mirrored in the à-la-carte menu where homemade breads, robust pasta dishes, and grilled meat and seafood take centre stage.
Vibrant plates like the whipped mackerel “tarama” (HKD78), house-smoked sardines (HKD178), and linguine with seared tuna, tomato, capers, and chilli (HKD198) are already hits with diners at Carmela.
