Veggie Kingdom, the Foodie Forks 2024 Best Vegetarian Restaurant winner, is a beacon of Chinese vegetarian goodness in Hong Kong.

At the Cantonese eatery’s two outlets in the city this winter, diners are able to tuck into a flurry of new soul-soothing à-la-carte dishes, including the thousand layer pagoda pumpkin curry pot (HKD168), wontons in soy-milk broth with bean-curd sheets (HKD138), and sizzling okra with black truffle (HKD148), alongside creative dim sum creations.

Veggie Kingdom’s mastery of plant-based dim sum knows no bounds, and we’re keen to try the restaurant’s newly unveiled “surprise specials” (from HKD42), available on a rotating basis on selected weekends. The pan-fried green peppers stuffed with perilla and wild mushroom and vegetable balls sound particularly delightful.

If you’re planning a gathering at home in the coming months, possibly with Chinese New Year in mind, Veggie Kingdom is also now spotlighting its vegetarian poon choi (HKD888/HKD1,388). Each takeaway pot is filled to the brim with a festive assortment of vegetarian prawn, abalone, and char siu, bamboo fungus, lotus root, and more.
